Privacy Policy — Chapters

Chapters is a private weight journal with photo memories. Your weight, health data, and photos are intimate — so we designed Chapters to keep them entirely on your device.

What We Collect

Nothing. Chapters does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on our servers. We do not operate servers for this app.

On-Device Data

All weight entries, notes, goals, and settings are stored only on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

Chapters can read weight samples from Apple Health if you grant permission. Chapters does not write to Apple Health — your Health data stays in Health, untouched. Health samples read by Chapters are processed on your device and used only to populate the app's timeline. They are never transmitted off-device.

Photos

Chapters can suggest photos from your library that match your weigh-in dates. Photos are referenced only by their local identifier — Chapters does not copy or store the photo files themselves. Photo data never leaves your device.

Analytics and Tracking

Chapters contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting SDKs, and no advertising identifiers. We do not track your activity in the app or across other apps and websites. Chapters makes no network requests.

Third-Party Services

Chapters does not integrate with any third-party services. It works entirely offline.

Import Features

Chapters can import weight history from Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Happy Scale, Fitbit, Withings, Garmin, or generic CSV/JSON files you provide. Imports are processed locally on your device. No imported data is transmitted off-device.

Purchases

Chapters is a one-time paid download — there are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no ads. Your payment is processed entirely by Apple when you download the app; Chapters never receives your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Device Permissions

Chapters requests the following permissions, all of which are optional:

• Apple Health — read-only access to weight samples. Deny, and Chapters still works with manually entered weights.
• Photos — read-only access to suggest photos from your library near weigh-in dates. Deny, and Chapters still works without photo suggestions.
• Notifications — optional, used only for local reminders you schedule on your device.

Children's Privacy

Chapters does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
